Winter activities:
Facilities
Accessible public washrooms, a change/warming area and small lockers for personal items and shoes (bring your own lock) are available in the lower Market Wing of City Hall via the North and South courtyards. An accessibility ramp to the lower level Wing is available at the North entrance off Brock Street.
Bringing a group to skate?
Notify us if your group plans to skate at Springer Market Square: Although we do not accept private bookings for schools or corporations for the Springer Market Square Rink, groups are more than welcome to skate anytime during the posted hours. In order that your large group gets the maximum enjoyment from their outing, teachers and group leaders are advised to notify Recreation and Leisure of their planned arrival so that we can make you aware of other large groups already expected. To send notification of your planned visit, please call 613-546-4291 ext 1801.
Skate Rentals
Skate rentals will be available on the dates listed below in the lower level of City Hall, directly off the courtyard and beside the skate change room and washrooms.
Hourly Rates:
- Children (12 and under) – $2
- Youth (13-17 years old) – $3
- Adults (18 years and older) – $4
- Seniors (65 years and older) – $3
- Families (maximum of 2 adults and their children under the age of 18) – $2.50 per person

- Friday, Feb. 6 (4 – 10 p.m.)
- Saturday, Feb. 7 (3 -6 :30 p.m. & 8:30 – 10 p.m.)

The Kingston has several outdoor rinks in parks, both staffed and unstaffed, located through out the city. Find one close to you in the list below.

August 8 & 9 – 1000 Islands Poker Run Kingston will play host to the Power Boating Canada 1000 Islands Poker Run on the weekend of Aug 8-9! This is the largest performance boating event in North America, drawing spectators from all across the continent to view more than 100 of the most spectacular and exotic boats on the water. See the boats on display at Confederation Basin, and enjoy the action on the water – all FREE for spectators. The event begins on Friday night with a display of the boats in Downtown Kingston, and shifts into high gear on Saturday when the boats take off at 10 am.
